CASE STUDY

AUGMENTED REALITY

FOOD PROCESSOR

Introduction
We were offered a project to 3D model a food processor with PBR textures to be used for their AR project.

Augmented reality (AR) has the potential to revolutionize mobile shopping by bringing products to life in front of you through 3D models that you can size up, examine from all angles, and even place in the environment around you.

The client had send us a reference image to start with the modelling and texturing
Challenges
  • No proportional blueprints to follow
  • To match with the exact product
  • To optimize it to be AR ready

Client Requirements
  • The 3D model should be properly UV mapped.
  • The 3D model should have PBR textures and diffuse, normal, AO, gloss, and metal maps.
  • The 3D model should be under 10K triangle count limit.

Assets Creation Process
3D modelling
We made block out with standard primitives in 3D software.

After the block-out, we added the details required for the model. Finally, we ended up modelling under 10K triangle count and now the model is ready for UV mapping.
UV mapping
properly mapped UV as required. Here is the UV layout
Texturing
Once the UV layout was done, we created PBR material textures using texturing software.
Here, we had to use three materials steel, glass and plastic as required by the model.
That's the final result after the texturing
